Are you interested in social scientific research and the many ways that research projects can be developed and carried out?
What will I study?
The programme is an interdisciplinary Masters programme in social sciences which aims to provide you with a strong knowledge in research methodology, research design, research methods, and theory, which are the building blocks of social scientific empirical research. The major objective of the programme is to train your ability to develop, refine, and carry out social scientific research projects. The focus of the master's programme is on the process of conducting social research, research methodology, and applied theory. Coursework involves extensive and intensive training in the process of conducting social research, research design, methodology, qualitative and quantitative methods (students are taught to analyse using state-of-the-art programming language R), as well as applied theory, theory building, and relevant interdisciplinary theories.
The third term consists of a 15-credit disciplinary elective period that may be used in arange of ways with an approved disciplinary focus, including an academic internship, a non-academic internship, or an elective course.You will be given ample opportunities for developing your intellectual capacities, expanding your skills and competencies, building up your network, as well as preparing for your life after your master's.
The medium of instruction is English. This means that lectures and seminars will be given in English and that examinations (including the master's thesis) will be in English.
What happens after the programme?
After completing the Master of Science Programme in Social Scientific Data Analysis, you will acquire a degree of Master of Science in Social Scientific Data Analysis (120 credits), with a major in one of the following disciplines: Gender Studies, Development Studies, Human Geography, Political Science, Social Work, Social Anthropology, Sociology, or Sociology of Law. The major corresponds to the major in your Bachelor's degree.
The programme in Social Scientific Data Analysis will prepare you for postgraduate studies as well as for research and research management in a variety of fields linking data science with social scientific training (e.g. conducting data analysis, market research for research organisations, IT companies, consultancies, risk management firms, intelligence analysis, or other private companies).

How to apply?
To be eligible for one of our programmes you must have a Bachelor's degree in one of the following Social Sciences majors:
- Political Science
- Sociology
- Social Work
- Social Anthropology
- Gender Studies
- Sociology of Law
- Development Studies
- Human Geography
In your application we ask you to include a Statement of Purpose which shall also give a brief statement on previous experience/knowledge in methods and methodology.
