The 6-year English Programme at the Pomeranian Medical University was established in 1996. Most of the teaching staff have had training in Great Britain, USA and Canada. In 2002 first 15 students of the English Programme graduated, and 85% of them passed Medical State Exam in Norway at the first attempt. Next year further 20 students graduated, and all of them passed the exam. The students at the University are instructed in small groups, both in pre-clinical and clinical courses. All doctors graduated from the English Programme at the Pomeranian Medical University found job places in their
country of origin and have a good reputation. Annually some 20 to 30 students are enrolled for the Programme. At present 128 students mainly from Norway, but also from Sweden, Germany, Canada and USA are studying at the University. In the coming academic year (2004/2005) a 4-year English Programme designed for students who plan nostrification (academic recognition) of M.D. diploma at the territory of the United States and Canada will be initiated.
